CBB - Kentucky at Florida
When these teams last met on a mid-February Saturday night
2007-03-03
When these teams last met on a mid-February Saturday night, the clash was viewed as a titanic tilt between a pair of SEC heavyweights both playing some of their best ball of the season. Well, it’s still a battle of heavyweights this time around, but Sunday’s contest has the feel of a pair of overrated and disinterested clubs simply getting together to bide the time until the Big Dance starts.

Let there be no mistaking, Florida has had a bear of a closing SEC league schedule, having to play five of last seven games on the road. The disturbing aspect has been the manner in which the Gators have lost for Billy Donovan. In each of the last three road losses they were uninspired and fell behind quickly and never really mustered much of a comeback. While TV personalities are saying they are in fine shape yet, they clearly are not. Besides senior Lee Humphrey, this might be the last home game for several of these starters. For Kentucky there is a real possibility they could finish tied for 4th place, in the SEC EAST! Holy Adolph Rupp! Facts are facts and this Wildcat team is not as talented as many of its predecessors and certainly lacks the defensive intensity Tubby Smith teams are noted for. Big Blue is 2-8 and 3-6-1 ATS as an underdog this season and was manhandled 95-80 last year in Gainesville. It could happen again to the delight for the Florida faithful. The StatFox Power Ratings indicate Florida by 10, but the margin of victory could be much, much greater if a motivated host takes the floor.
