The mere mention of the Georgetown-Villanova rivalry immediately conjures up memories of the classic game between the two schools played in the ’83 NCAA Championship Game. The memory just doesn’t seem to fade, as that game was perhaps the greatest upset in the history on the tournament. This Saturday’s game between the schools pales in comparison of importance, but still, in the here and now, it means a lot to both teams in terms of both their respective tournament resumes and the Big East standings.

Their might not be team playing better in the country then Georgetown right now as they head to Philadelphia to renew pleasantries with Villanova. The Hoyas have eight straight Big East games. Since losing to Pittsburgh, G-Town is 8-0-1 ATS winning by an average of 15.8 points a game. What changed for Georgetown was the improved guard play of Jonathan Wallace and Jessie Sapp as starters and others off the bench. As they became more patient in the offense, this opened up more lanes for Jeff Green and center Roy Hibbert to dominate. Villanova is unbeaten this month and has taken 7 of last 9. The Wildcats will once again lean on aggressive defense to confound Georgetown and hope they don’t make three ball shots since they allow 37.4%. ‘Nova is up to 9-5-1 ATS off a win, while the Hoyas are 7-1-1 ATS on the road. Georgetown is 2-8 SU and ATS in last ten meetings with Wildcats. The StatFox Power Ratings indicate a Pick em’ spread, so there won’t be any big upset here.
